1988 Gibson Les Paul Custom 3 Pickup Bigsby & Mods
Here we have a super cool 1988 Gibson Les Paul Custom 3-Pickup in Ebony!
This guitar is in excellent condition and perfect working order. There have been some modifications which i will get to shortly. The guitar has no cracks, repairs, or issues to speak of. There is some very light buckle rash, and other small dings and minor scratches throughout, however it's very clean for its age. It appears that someone wanted to "satin" the back of the neck at some point as there are some very fine scratches all along the neck going in the same direction. It is unknown whether or not that is why the wood is exposed, or if the neck was just played heavily in that area. All photographs of the condition of the guitar have been edited to make any ding or scratch look as bad/severe as possible. The guitar has been Plek'd in our shop and plays perfectly. The guitar has had the nut replaced with an unbleached bone nut also cut on the Plek. Getting to the modifications: All 3 pickups have been replaced with Sheptones. I'm unsure which model they are, however, some details are on the back of the pickups as photographed. The wiring of the guitar has also been modified/replaced. The neck volume is a push-pull that adds in the middle pickup. I'm mildly unsure what the push pulls on the bridge & neck tone pots do. They kind of sound like series/parallel & in phase/out of phase. There has been an aftermarket bigsby added with all Vibramate components, so no holes have been drilled in the guitar that would make it so it couldn't be reverted back to stock configuration. The Bigsby mod also had a roller bridge installed, however the original TOM is in the case. The original stop tailpiece is not with the guitar. There is a non-original brown Gator case that comes with the guitar, and it works great.
11lb 6.4oz
Overall, I'd give the guitar a solid 8.5/10 condition wise. It plays & sounds fantastic.
